Deathstar

Deathstar

Overview

The Deathstar — commonly called RIP (REST IN PEACE) or DS (Deathstar) — is the most powerful and expensive ship in OGame. A single Deathstar can destroy entire fleets and defence networks through its massive rapid-fire values against every ship type.

Tips

Primary Use: Moon Destruction

The Deathstar's main PvP use is destroying enemy moons — eliminating their Jump Gate and Sensor Phalanx. This is called a "moon shot."

Moon Shot Success Chance

The chance to destroy a moon depends on the moon's size and number of RIPs sent:
P(destroy moon)=1(moon diameter10000)0.5×RIPsP(\text{destroy moon}) = 1 - \left(\frac{\text{moon diameter}}{10000}\right)^{0.5 \times \text{RIPs}}

Extreme Fuel Efficiency

Despite costing 10M+ resources, the RIP uses almost no fuel (1 deut/hour). Long-distance deployment is cheap once built.

Slow Speed Is the Warning

With base speed 100, a Deathstar takes a very long time to arrive. Like all attacks, it is visible in the target's event screen once in flight. The long flight time itself gives defenders ample opportunity to fleet-save — no special notification mechanic is involved.
