Overview

Shielding Technology increases the shield strength of all ships and defence structures. Each level adds 10% of base shield value. It is one of three core combat researches alongside Weapons Technology and Armour Technology.

Effect

Shield strength=base shield×(1+0.10×S)\text{Shield strength} = \text{base shield} \times (1 + 0.10 \times S)

where SS is Shielding Technology level.

Shield Mechanics

  • Shields absorb damage before hull takes any hits
  • Shields regenerate fully between rounds of combat
  • If a single hit deals less than 1% of the target's full shield value, the shield absorbs the hit completely (minimum shield rule)
Minimum Shield Rule

This rule makes Shield Domes extremely effective against light attackers. A Light Fighter hit of 55 damage does nothing to a dome with 2,000 shields.

Tips

Turtles Value Shields

Defensive players benefit most from Shielding Technology because domes and turrets benefit heavily from the minimum shield rule.

Balance All Three

Do not neglect shielding in favour of weapons. A fleet with high attack but low shields dies faster against equal-tech opponents.
