Highscore & Ranks

Overview

OGame tracks your progress through points and honour. Points determine your highscore position. Honour points (HP) determine your rank title, which has real gameplay consequences at the extremes.

How Points Are Calculated

Points=resources invested1000\text{Points} = \frac{\text{resources invested}}{1000}

Every 1,000 metal, crystal, or deuterium you spend on buildings, ships, research, or defence adds 1 point to your total. Resources you hold in storage do not give points — only resources spent count.

Highscore Categories

CategoryWhat it measures
EconomyPoints from buildings and research
MilitaryPoints from current fleet (ships built minus ships destroyed)
Military BuiltLifetime ships built
Military DestroyedShips destroyed (yours destroyed by others)
Military LostYour ships you have lost
ResearchPoints from completed research technologies
LifeformPoints from lifeform buildings and technologies

Your overall rank is based on the sum of all invested resources. Military destroyed points are awarded to the attacker — winning fleet crashes earns military highscore.

Honour Points & Rank Titles

Honour Points (HP) are awarded or deducted based on your combat behaviour. Your HP total determines a visible rank title next to your name.

Positive Ranks (High HP)

RankRequirement
Grand EmperorTop 10 overall + 15,000+ HP
EmperorTop 100 overall + 2,500+ HP
Star LordTop 250 overall + 500+ HP

These titles are prestigious and require both a high points rank and significant HP.

Negative Ranks (Low / Negative HP)

RankRequirement
BanditNegative HP
Bandit LordSignificant negative HP
Bandit KingExtreme negative HP
Bandit gameplay consequences

Players with a Bandit rank can be looted of 100% of their resources per raid (instead of the normal 50%). This makes being a Bandit extremely costly — other players will specifically target you.

How to Gain and Lose Honour Points

HP are gained primarily by successfully defending against attacks or winning fleet engagements against equally or stronger ranked opponents. HP are lost by attacking significantly weaker players, especially those in noob protection or far below your score.

The exact HP awarded/deducted per combat depends on the relative strength and rank of both parties. Farming very weak players will quickly push you into Bandit territory.

Practical Notes

  • Points don't disappear when buildings or ships are destroyed — invested resources remain in your score permanently (with the exception of Military points, which track current fleet value)
  • Recycling or scrapping ships does not remove points
  • Research points are permanent once researched
  • Early game: prioritise Economy score (mines + research) to build a point base safely
  • Military highscore fluctuates most — losing a large fleet can drop your military rank significantly
