Solar Satellite

The Solar Satellite is technically a ship but functions as a permanent energy source. It orbits the planet and converts sunlight to electricity. Unlike the Solar Plant it can be destroyed by attackers.
Base Stats
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Cost | 0 Metal · 2,000 Crystal · 500 Deuterium |
| Base weapons | 1 |
| Base shield | 1 |
| Base hull | 2,000 |
| Prerequisites | Shipyard level 1 |
Energy Production
As of OGame v1.0, energy is based on average planet temperature (mean of max and min):
Energy by Average Temperature
| Avg Temp | Energy/Satellite |
|---|---|
| −40°C | 20 |
| −20°C | 23 |
| 0°C | 26 |
| +20°C | 30 |
| +40°C | 33 |
| +60°C | 36 |
| +80°C | 40 |
| +100°C | 43 |
Unlike the Deuterium Synthesizer which works better cold, Solar Satellites produce more energy on hot inner planets. Place them on your first few slots.
Tips
A batch of 20 satellites on a hot inner planet can provide 15,000+ energy — equivalent to a high-level Solar Plant at a fraction of the cost.
Satellites are ships and get destroyed in battle. If you're under attack, they'll be gone after a successful raid. Don't rely on them as your only energy source.
Use satellites to bridge energy gaps between Solar Plant levels. Eventually transition to Fusion Reactor for a destruction-proof primary energy source.
Solar Satellites cost zero fuel to operate — just the upfront crystal cost.
