Intergalactic Research Network

Intergalactic Research Network

Overview

The IGN links Research Labs across your planets, combining their levels to accelerate research. Each IGN level allows one additional lab to contribute. This is the key multiplier for mid-to-late game research speed.

Research Speed Formula

T=Base time1+highest lab level+next N best labslab leveliT = \frac{\text{Base time}}{1 + \text{highest lab level} + \sum_{\text{next } N \text{ best labs}} \text{lab level}_i}

where NN = IGN level.

Example with IGN Level 3

If you have labs at levels: 12, 10, 9, 8, 7 (best first):

T=Base1+12+(10+9+8)=Base40T = \frac{\text{Base}}{1 + 12 + (10 + 9 + 8)} = \frac{\text{Base}}{40}

vs without IGN: Base13\frac{\text{Base}}{13} — 3× faster.

Tips

Build Labs on All Colonies

IGN only helps if your colonies have Research Labs. Level all colony labs to 6–10 for meaningful contribution.

Prerequisites Are Late-Game

Computer 8, Hyperspace 8, and Research Lab 10 are mid-game milestones. The IGN is a reward for a developed account.

Research Lab on Main

Always research from your main planet (highest lab level). The IGN adds colony labs on top — it doesn't replace the best lab.
