Recycler

The Recycler harvests debris fields created when ships and some defences are destroyed in battle. Recyclers are essential for recovering resources from your own losses and for looting debris after attacking.

Debris Fields
When ships are destroyed, 30% of their Metal and Crystal cost enters the debris field at the planet's coordinates:
Deuterium cost of destroyed ships does not enter the debris field — only Metal and Crystal.
Reapers automatically collect 30% of the debris field they participate in creating.
Drive Upgrades
Recyclers are automatically refitted when you reach certain drive research levels:
| Threshold | Drive | Speed Formula |
|---|---|---|
| Default | Combustion Drive | |
| Impulse Drive level 17 | Impulse Drive | |
| Hyperspace Drive level 15 | Hyperspace Drive |
No rebuild required — all existing Recyclers switch drives the moment you reach the threshold level.
Tips
Always follow up combat attacks with Recyclers. Even small debris fields add up. Missed debris is lost income.
Send slightly more Recycler capacity than the debris field. It's better to have spare capacity than leave resources behind.
After defending against an attack, any defence losses and your destroyed ships become debris you can recycle.
Check the debris field size via Espionage Probes before sending Recyclers — especially to another player's wreckage.
