Player Classes

Overview

Every player selects one of three classes that provides permanent passive bonuses. The first selection is free; changing later costs 500,000 Dark Matter. Choose based on your primary playstyle — the bonuses compound significantly at high account levels.

The Three Classes

ClassSynergy lifeformFocus
CollectorRock'talEconomy, production, trading
GeneralMechaCombat, fleet speed, fuel
DiscovererKaeleshExpeditions, research, colonisation

Collector

Playstyle: Miner / Trader

The Collector maximises resource income. Ideal for players who want to outproduce opponents and rely on mines rather than active raiding.

Bonuses

BonusValue
Mine production (Metal, Crystal, Deuterium)+25%
Energy production+10%
Transporter speed (Large Cargo, Small Cargo)+100%
Transporter cargo capacity+25%
Crawler output+50%
Crawler overload capup to 150%
More Crawlers with Geologist+10%
Building acceleration discount−10%

Specific ship: Crawler — a land unit that increases resource production of each type by 0.02% per unit. Requires energy to operate. Active crawler cap: (Metal Mine + Crystal Mine + Deuterium Synthesizer levels) × 8.

Best for

Players who log in infrequently and want mines to do the work. The 25% mine bonus compounds massively across many planets and high mine levels. Pairs with Rock'tal lifeform and Trader alliance class for maximum production.

General

Playstyle: Attacker / Fleeter

The General excels at combat operations. Fleet moves faster, fights harder, and burns less fuel.

Bonuses

BonusValue
Combat ship speed+100%
Recycler speed+100%
Fuel consumption (all ships)−50%
Recycler and Pathfinder cargo capacity+20%
Combat research levels (Weapons, Shielding, Armour)+2
Fleet slots+2
Moon fields+5
Fleet speed setting granularity5% steps (instead of 10%)
Shipyard acceleration discount−10%
Moon fields

The +5 moon fields are active only while the General class is active. Buildings occupying those extra fields remain if you switch class but the slots go over the new limit — deactivating General with buildings in those fields does not destroy them, but you cannot build further until fields free up.

Specific ship: Reaper — strong combat ship that mines a portion of the debris field created in a battle directly, without needing a Recycler mission.

Best for

Active players who raid frequently. The speed bonus doubles raid trip frequency. The fuel savings and combat research bonuses reduce the cost and risk of every fleet engagement. Pairs with Mecha lifeform and Warrior alliance class.

Discoverer

Playstyle: Explorer / Researcher

The Discoverer gains advantages in expeditions, research speed, and colonisation. Ideal for players who want to expand fast and tech up quickly.

Bonuses

BonusValue
Expedition slots+2
Expedition rewards+50%
Chance of expedition enemies (pirates/aliens)−50%
Research time−25%
Colony planet size on colonisation+10% fields
Phalanx range+20%
Loot from inactive players75% (instead of 50%)
Research acceleration discount−10%

Expedition debris fields are visible in Galaxy View for Discoverers. Can find items on expeditions (subject to daily and weekly limits — once either limit is reached, no more items until it resets).

Specific ship: Pathfinder — fast ship with 10,000 cargo capacity that can discover and harvest expedition debris fields. Often used for farming inactive players.

Best for

Players who actively run expeditions and want to research faster. The −25% research time is significant at high levels where research takes days. The extra colony fields reduce reliance on Terraformers. Pairs with Kaelesh lifeform and Researcher alliance class.
